Rob Harris: Vocals/Guitar
I was born and raised in Pendleton Oregon (The round-up city) Yeehaw. I spent 25 years there going through many ups and downs. I was adopted at less than 1 year of age after coming from a place where the odds were against me early, a house of drug and alcohol addicts and constant law offenders ending up in jail or prison. I was delivered out of that mess with only broken bones (yes as an infant).
I was adopted into a more loving home but things did not get much easier as my adopted mother became an alcoholic and tore a family apart, my father left in divorce, leaving me to live alone with my mother for a few years to come.
At some point around 1993 I was invited to church with a friend, it was not the right kind of church for me and after a couple visits I went my own way. Later on that year I was walking by a bible bookstore and I felt the tug to go in. After telling the store owner what style of music I listened to she recommended a cd called Beyond Belief by a band named Petra.
That cd was used to change my life and turn things around, soon after I got into a youth group as a drummer/singer. I married in 1996 and had 2 kids but that relationship failed soon after. For about 10 years I got involved in sexual relationships with about every woman I dated and became what the world saw as normal, falling far enough that I lost feeling with God, still had the desire to return but not the drive.
In 2003 I moved to the Portland Oregon area and was engaged again. After about a year that relationship came to a very bitter and painful end that forced me to see what I had been putting all my faith in.
The temptation used to fool me was lust and the outside beauty of the body with no regard for what true use for a life partner really was. Soon after that I was spiraling down again in and out of love looking for something real and right. Since I had been in and out of bands as a singer, bass player, guitar player and drummer I quickly looked for a musical outlet to get my emotions out with. I have been singing since I was around 7 years old, and then started playing the drums when I was about 16, bass and guitar came around the age of 21.
I was led to start a band in the area called Separated & I spent the next 2 ½ years going through many ups and downs. During that time my mother had passed away (3-17-05) and that sent me off down an emotional path I was not ready for yet.
In July of 2006 I was married to an amazing woman. It is time to do this right from the start and be an example of a pure right marriage from the beginning. My passion for the music is greater than ever. In that same year I moved on from my last project and started OverKast. The message and passion to bring truth to all will stay the same no matter where I am. Even when I had turned away to do things my way God never left, he waited patiently for my return. I bring a fire and excitement to the stage every time I step on!
Main influences: Creed, 12 Stones, Alter Bridge, Scott Stapp (Solo Material), Daughtry, Petra, Grammatrain, Silverchair (Old Material), Firehouse & quite a few others over the years.
